Volunteering is time given of free choice for the common good, of society and without any financial gain. Volunteering benefits both the volunteer and the community. Volunteering is one of the most personally rewarding activities.
The benefits of volunteering:
- Gain self-confidence. Volunteering can help you gain self-confidence because it gives you a chance to try something new and get the satisfaction of seeing it through.
- You meet new people. Volunteering helps you meet different kinds of people and make new friends.
- You become part of a community. Volunteering can help you feel part of a community, other than your friends or family.
- You learn new skills. Volunteering can help you develop new skills, gain new experience and skills by putting into practice what you learn in theory in classes.
- You take on a challenge. Through volunteering you take on the challenge of trying new things, achieving personal goals, putting your skills and abilities into practice and even discovering your hidden talents.
- Make a positive impact. Volunteering can have a real and positive impact on you personally, on people, on communities and on society in general.
- Have fun. Most volunteers enjoy the time they spend volunteering, regardless of the reason they do it.
Who can volunteer?
Anyone!
What does it mean to be a volunteer at BBU?
- You are under the coordination of a BBU employee.
- You are involved in the activities of the centre/faculty/department where the coordinator works, and more.
- You develop (new) practical skills and abilities.
- You become an important part of the UBB community.
- You get involved in university activities for at least one month (minimum 10 hours).
You receive a Volunteer Certificate, describing the experience gained from the activity.
