Activity Report for 2022

In 2022, within the “Volunteer at BBU” program of the Volunteering Office, a number of 601 contracts were concluded, 52% more than the previous year. This significant increase is due to the promotion and awareness campaign started at the end of 2021, carried out in online and on social networks. At the same time, we owe the increased interest of students/alumni to volunteering activities within the University as a result of the post-pandemic period, by resuming on-site courses starting in March 2022, as well as by resuming the socio-cultural and scientific activities carried out by UBB institutions.

In addition, the year 2022 is also marked by the first steps taken by high school students from Cluj-Napoca who are at least 16 years old and who had their first contact with the University by participating in volunteer activities carried out by the “Alexandru Borza” Botanical Garden .

Regarding volunteering certificates, documents with legal status attesting to professional experience in the field in which the volunteer’s activity was carried out, in 2022, 533 certificates were issued. Most of the UBB volunteers, according to the activity reports submitted by the volunteer coordinators, obtained the qualification “very good” or “excellent” for the activity carried out throughout the contractual period.

Among the UBB faculties/structures that hosted volunteers we mention: “Nicolae Bocșan” Institute of Ecclesiastical History, Career, Professional Orientation and Alumni Center, “Babeș-Bolyai Psytech” University Psychology Clinic, Office for Students with Disabilities, UBB Zoology Museum , Babeș-Bolyai University Student Council, “Alexandru Borza” Botanical Garden, Faculty of Biology and Geology – Department of Biology and Ecology of the Hungarian Line and Department of Taxonomy and Ecology, UBB Palaeontology-Stratigraphy Museum, UBB University Cultural Heritage Department – “Liviu Vlad” Hall, UBB Archive Service, UBB Human Resources Service – UBB Communication, Public Relations and Advertising Department, International Cooperation Center, History Museum of Babeș-Bolyai University, Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business Management, Faculty of Business, Expert Student Counseling Center, Center for Polish Language and Culture.

Another goal achieved in 2022 is the digitization of the documents of the Volunteering Office. Thus, all the contracts, certificates and additional documents of the students who took part in extracurricular activities in UBB from 2015 until now have been digitized, which has led to an increased promptness in their transmission to applicants and to a better internal organization.

Therefore, according to the feedback received from the students, the active involvement in the “Volunteer at BBU” program of the Volunteering Office had a decisive role for those who applied for internships, for various scholarships, such as “Ursus Scholarships” or for scholarships for study abroad, but also for employment. This confirmed to us once again the importance of the program in order to develop and acquire new skills and abilities for students through non-formal activities.
Thus, by participating in the courses of the faculty chosen by each student and by being involved in volunteer activities in their free time, a perfect synergy is achieved for the acquisition of transversal skills and socio-cultural values necessary for a European citizen in the 21st century.
